The one with the trifle

The meal I’ve been looking forward to making the most for Ready Rebel Cook landed on our table this week: a meal inspired by a film or TV show. 

As soon as I saw this clause I knew exactly what I was going to make. My inspiration? Rachel Green’s Thanksgiving Trifle! 


Full disclosure here; I can’t stand cold custard, even on a trifle, so there was no way I was going to make it all in one dish. 🤢

So last night’s dinner was cottage pie with strawberry trifle for pudding.

I’m pleased to report it did not taste like feet.


However, I have yet to perfect not over-whipping double cream. One second it looks perfect so I stop, and by the time I’ve got a spatula to it to take it out of the bowl it’s practically butter! One day…

I think that might be me done for Ready Rebel Cook, I’m not a good cook and while I’ve enjoyed what I’ve done so far I think I may have peaked.
