Pretty fly for a cacti
Our house is usually where indoor plants come to die. However, I have been keeping these plants for several years- I’ve had the Christmas Cactus for around 15 years, the succulents were sent to me in the post 3 years ago and have been sprouted/been repotted a few times (most recently last November) and the orchids (technically my mum’s but I keep them going) have lived here a few years.

I created a chart to show how much light and water they all need:
I generally soak the orchids to water them but here are 3 different ways to water them:
I occasionally use BabyBio Orchid food when I water the orchids, this really should be done when there is active growth add/or flowers. I am going to get some cactus and succulent food for the others in the spring, that’s when the growing period should happen. I might look into drip feeders too. Generally I water with tepid tap water but when we have some rainwater collecting in the bucket outside I try to remember to use that.
The orchids both need to be repotted (one is so in need it’s practically growing outside the pot), but I read that they shouldn’t be repotted when in bud or flower so I’ll wait for that to finish before I repot them. I have new pots one size large and new orchid mix to plant them in. I will trim off and brown dead roots when I repot them and let them settle before I feed them again.
The succulents were repotted and rearranged last November. I tried to get some new plants started from leaves but they didn’t take this time.

The final clause for Indoor gardener is to nurture your orchid so that it blooms again. Between them, my orchids have flowered several times. One is blooming at the moment and the other has new growth and buds which I’m hoping will open in a few weeks.
